NewDelhi: Arun Jaitley Stadium came alive with thousands of fans yearning to see Virat Kohli bat as he returned to the Ranji Trophy after 13 years. Being out of sorts in international cricket, many expected Kohli to hit his stride against Railways and play a match-winning knock. But that was all Kohli’s innings amounted to, with the 36 Year-old bowled out for just 6 runs by fast bowler Himanshu Sangwan.
Expectations remained high for Kohli to find his form back in domestic cricket. Still, the Delhi star, playing for his state side in the Ranji Trophy, ran again into the wall, this time against Railways. He made just 6 from 15 balls in the event before Sangwan trapped him in the middle. Kohli was trapped in the slips off deliveries outside the off-stump on the recent tour of Australia, but this time, he was bowled.
Himanshu Sangwan bowled an over-the-wicket ball that Kohli misread and missed the line as the ball sneaked through his bat and pad to breach the off-stump. That was how Sangwan celebrated his wicket, which left fans present at the stadium pretty disappointed. Several spectators started exiting the arena after Kohli departed.
