Mumbai: The Indian cricket team has set foot in South Africa for a captivating three-match ODI series. Notably, different captains will lead the Indian team across all three formats, highlighting the versatility and depth of the squad.
The upcoming Test series holds immense significance for the Indian team as they seek to establish dominance on South African soil. Rohit Sharma will assume the captaincy mantle, while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will form the formidable opening pair.
All eyes will be on Virat Kohli, the only Indian batsman to have scored a Test century in South Africa. Kohli’s stellar track record in South Africa includes 719 runs in 14 innings at an impressive average of 51.35, with two centuries and three half-centuries to his name.
Despite enduring a slump in form in 2021 and 2022, Kohli has regained his rhythm and is poised for a strong showing in the Test series. His absence from the cricket field since the 2023 ODI World Cup has allowed him to focus solely on red-ball cricket.
The Indian team’s official campaign begins on December 10 with a T20I series, and from December 17 to 21 there will be an ODI series. The highly anticipated Test series commences on December 26, where India will aim to conquer South Africa in their own backyard.
