New Delhi: In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal has announced the passing of his eldest son, Agnivesh Agarwal, at the age of 49, describing it as the “darkest day” of his life.

Agnivesh breathed his last on Wednesday, in New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was recovering from injuries sustained in a skiing accident in the United States. Despite showing signs of improvement, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest that proved fatal.

A director on the board of Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), a Vedanta subsidiary, Agnivesh was known for his vibrant spirit and ambitious dreams. His father, the mining tycoon who built Vedanta into a global resources giant, shared the devastating news on social media platform X, pouring out his grief: Agnivesh was healthy, full of life, and on the mend until fate intervened cruelly.

India’s business circles, revered for the Agarwal family’s rags-to-riches saga, have been shocked by the sudden loss. Tributes have poured in, offering condolences to Anil Agarwal and the bereaved family amid this profound personal tragedy.
