US Deploys B-52 Bombers To The Middle East – Could Iran Be The Next Target?

NewYork: Six B-52 bomber planes of the United States have been sent to the Middle East as tension between Israel and Iran continues apace reports the Air and Space Forces Magazine citing the US officials. This is a sign of the US’s rising willingness to act in an ongoing conflict between the two countries. The B-52 aircraft are not only the conventional aircraft for bomb dropping but it also has the nuclear competency.

Recent attacks by the Israelis have indicated that Khamenei of Iran is likely to order a strike against Israel in the near future. Some fear that if Iran tried to launch a third attack on Israel it may bring in B-52 bomber attacks on Iranian forces from the US.

Although CENTCOM did not reveal the details of its Strategic Air Forces deploying B-52 bombers, reports said CENTCOM announced the arrival of B-52 bombers to Middle East on Sunday. But Air and Space Forces Magazine has said that six B- 52 bombers have been sent along with another squadron of F-15E Strike Eagles’ jets. It also provides for refuelling tankers, which mean long-term air operations are possible.

No information was provided about the location of the B-52 bombers, which have been moved from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. On the other hand, another cargo plane has been deployed at Al Udeid which is a largest US air base in Qatar region .

As these tensions and conflicts with Iran rise the US remains to escalate its military force in this region. The Pentagon recently declared that it has deployed more bombers, a destroyer, and some of the newest fighter aircraft to the Middle East. In addition, a carrier strike group: the USS Abraham Lincoln, is reported to be heading for the region to join other American forces.

The increase in military force is consistent with Washington’s desire to prevent the escalation of the current conflict between Israel and Iran, and to protect its allies.
