Lucknow: Bringing an end to the long wait of government job aspirants, the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission has officially released the notification for the Preliminary Eligibility Test 2026. The announcement was made on August 1, paving the way for massive recruitment drives across the state. This examination serves as a mandatory gateway for major state government vacancies, including positions like Lekhpal, Junior Assistant, Village Development Officer, Assistant Accountant, and X Ray Technician.
According to the official notification, the online application window will open on August 3, 2026. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their forms until the final deadline of September 1, 2026. The commission has also provided a designated window for application corrections, allowing applicants to rectify any errors in their submitted forms until September 8, 2026. All applications must be submitted through the official UPSSSC portal.
To be eligible for the PET 2026 examination, candidates must have passed at least their 10th standard board exams from a recognized educational board. The age limit is set between 18 and 40 years, calculated as of July 1, 2026. Reserved categories, ex servicemen, sportspersons, and differently abled candidates will receive age relaxations as per standard government norms.
The application fee structure has been clearly outlined in the notification. Candidates belonging to the General and OBC categories are required to pay Rs 185, which includes both the application and processing fees. For SC and ST applicants, the fee is reduced to Rs 95. Differently abled candidates only need to pay a nominal processing fee of Rs 25. Payments can be seamlessly made using UPI, debit cards, credit cards, or net banking.
The UPSSSC PET 2026 will be conducted in an offline mode. The two hour examination will consist of 100 multiple choice questions. Candidates will be awarded one mark for every correct answer, but they must be cautious as a negative marking of 0.25 marks will be applied for each incorrect response.
