Union Minister Jual Oram’s Wife Jhingia Succumbs to Dengue

Bhubaneswar: Jhingia Oram, the wife of Union Minister Jual Oram, passed away late on Saturday evening after battling dengue. She was undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Jhingia, aged 58, succumbed to the illness at 10:50 pm.

Jual Oram, a prominent member of the Modi government, has also been diagnosed with dengue and is currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.

The tragic news prompted Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Speaker Surma Padhi, and several BJP leaders to visit the hospital late at night to pay their respects.

The couple had recently travelled to a northeastern state where both were diagnosed with dengue upon their return.

Jual and Jhingia Oram married on 8 March 1987 and were parents to two daughters. Jhingia’s last rites will be conducted on Monday in their native village of Kendudihi, Sundergarh.

Jual Oram is the sitting Member of Parliament for Sundargarh. Known for his political acumen, he has secured a hat-trick in parliamentary elections and has served twice as the Minister of Tribal Affairs in the Modi government. He also held a ministerial position during the Vajpayee administration.
