Bhubaneswar: Finance Minister (FM) Nirmala Sitharaman made an interesting mistake while delivering the budget 2023 speech in the Lok Sabha and had the House in splits.
Speaking of vehicle replacement as an important policy, the FM inadvertently referred to “old political” instead of “old polluting vehicles.” She immediately corrected herself while giggling at her slip of the tongue.
She repeated ‘polluting’ multiple times and stressed, “Replacing old polluting vehicles is an important part of greening our economy.”
Those following the FM’s were also quick to respond to what they felt was an ‘advertent’ mistake, hinting at how BJP replaced the old political dispensation in 2014, on social media platforms. “Impressive slip of tongue,” quipped a user.

While talking about a scheme related 2 scrapping of old vehicles, FM Sitharaman intended 2 say, “Replacing & scrapping of old polluting vehicles”, instead she said, “replacing & scrapping of old political vehicles”
