Ukraine-Russia Conflict: PM Modi To Chair High-Level Meeting

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to hold a high-level meeting on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Sunday night.

The PM, who had been campaigning in Uttar Pradesh for the ongoing seven-phase Assembly elections there, will chair the meeting after returning to Delhi, ANI reported.

On Saturday, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky sought India’s political support in United Nations to condemn Russia’s move to launch a military operation during a telephonic conversation with Modi.

India abstained from voting in a UN Security Council resolution deploring in strongest terms Russia’s ‘aggression’ against Ukraine. The Modi government has stuck to its stand that dialogue is the only way to resolving differences.

After Vladimir Putin announced his decision to launch military operations against Ukraine, Modi had urged for cessation of violence and called for talks between the parties during his call with the Russian President.
