Mumbai: Nearly six months after Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic demise, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray finally broke his silence over the actor’s death.
In an interview with Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna, Thackeray stated that Sushant’s death has rocked the state of Maharashtra and some politicians made use of the opportunity for political gains.
Speaking about Sushant’s case, the CM said, “What can I say, I sympathize with the tragedy. The people who are trying to gain something from someone’s death are not worthy of being in politics. A young man, unfortunately, lost his life. Do you want to play politics on that man’s death? How much more can you fall down? These politics are the worst of its kind.”
“If you want to be called a man, then fight like one. Unfortunately, a man lost his life and all you think about is playing politics soon after? Are you trying to earn two minutes of fame over a dead man? Is this what your true nature is?” he added.
Shiv Sena’s editorial also stated that before the Bihar elections, politicians did everything possible to apparently seek justice for the actor. However, post the Bihar elections, the enthusiasm to seek justice for the actor has died down.
The Bihar police got involved in SSR’s case after the late actor’s father KK Singh lodged a complaint with them.
After a tussle between the Mumbai Police and Bihar Police over the jurisdiction of the case, the Supreme Court handed over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the NCB for her involvement in drug nexus related to the actor’s death case. However, the actress was later granted conditional bail by the court.
The CBI is still investigating Sushant’s death case and the conclusive report in the case is yet to be announced.
