Two Mistakes In the Past: Nitish Kumar Vows To Stick with NDA

Patna: Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has categorically turned down the overtures made by RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav to come over to his side, saying that he will not be deterred by past sins. At a review meeting of development schemes in Gopalganj, Kumar said that the people of Bihar have gone wrong two times with Nitish Kumar and the BJP, but now he will remain with Nitish Kumar forever and will work for the development of Bihar and the nation.

Lalu Yadav has recently said that the gate is open for Kumar to come to RJD, meaning if Kumar wished for it, he can never be denied entrance. Nonetheless, Kumar’s response displays a line of clear intention, which will not leave the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and/or defy his reign without a change of heart.

The situation in Bihar has changed for the better since 2005, when Kumar became the chief minister, he said. Whenever Bihar provided a chance to work, we transformed its scenario. They say that there has been no discrimination against anyone,” he said. He also quickly noted that aspects such as tribal conflicts and poor standards of facilities have also been addressed under his leadership.

The political situation in Bihar has slowly come into the active phase with assembly elections anticipated later this year. Kumar made these remarks amid lots of speculation on his relationship with the BJP, especially after he embarked on a “Vikas Yatra,” a development journey across various districts without his deputy chief ministers.

During a series of his tours to address local issues, Kumar has said that he will work within the NDA framework. His statement of allegiance to the alliance is to counter the speculation that he is planning to return to the opposition coalition.

As the assembly elections are around the corner, all eyes will be on how further these things will transpire and whether Kumar will be able to manage his coalition and, at the same time, develop Bihar as per his promises made.
