Bengaluru: Deepak Chahar has become the most expensive Indian bowler in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) outlasted Rajasthan Royals (RR), SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in the bidding war at IPL auction 2022 here on Saturday to sign him for Rs 14 crore.
With 58 wickets in his kitty during the four seasons in the Yellow Army, Chahar was instrumental in its title wins in the 2018 and 2021 editions. In 2018, CSK had bought Chahar for Rs 80 lakh.

Earlier in the day, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan had become the most expensive buy on the first day of the mega auction with Mumbai Indians retaining him for Rs 15.25 crore.
Among Marquee Players, Shreyas Iyer was the most expensive buy with Kolkata Knight Riders spending Rs 12.25 crore for his signature.
The other players who crossed the double figures were Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasarangsa, who were brought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 10.75 crore each.
Shardul Thakur also bagged big money as DC bought him for Rs 10.75 crore. RR picked Prasidh Krishna for Rs 10 crore while Gujarat Titans shelled out Rs 10 crore for Lockie Ferguson.
