New Delhi: India’s tri-services Exercise Trishul, a large-scale joint military drill involving the Army, Navy and Air Force, has heightened tensions with Pakistan, prompting sharp warnings from Islamabad’s military leadership.

Commencing on November 3 and scheduled to conclude on November 13, Trishul represents a significant demonstration of integrated warfare capabilities.

Spanning the Arabian Sea and extending to aerial domains, the exercise emphasises rapid deployment, maritime dominance, and enhanced interservice coordination. It follows Operation Sindoor earlier this year, focusing on multi-domain operations to bolster strategic synergy among the forces.

In Rawalpindi, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), issued a stern caution during an informal media interaction. He asserted that Pakistan is closely monitoring the drill and accused India of preparing a “false flag operation” in the Arabian Sea, potentially via maritime routes, to stage an assault. “India should know that this time our response will be even stronger,” Chaudhry declared, framing the exercise as provocative amid Pakistan’s internal challenges, including escalating Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) activities nearing Islamabad.

Indian intelligence sources dismissed these claims as indicators of strategic anxiety and domestic instability in Pakistan, suggesting the statements aim to project unity on the home front while internal conditions spiral beyond control. Despite being a routine annual drill, Trishul has prompted heightened vigilance from Pakistani security agencies, underscoring persistent regional frictions.
