New Delhi: During a 4-day operation against them in Jammu’s Kathua, three terrorists were killed on Thursday in the Rajbagh area of the city, where security forces and terrorists exchanged fire near Jakhole village in the Ghati Juthana area. Regrettably, this intense battle also claimed the lives of three soldiers. Intelligence inputs initiated the operation, prompting a joint search by the army and police, to which the terrorists responded with heavy fire. The security forces responded, and the raid is still under way.

The search operation had started when some terrorists were spotted about 30 kilometers away from here in Sanyal village of Hiranagar sector, close to Pakistan border, on Sunday evening. It went on for about half an hour before the terrorists slipped into the darkness. The terrorists killed on Thursday were also part of the same group, authorities suspect. Since then, a huge search operation has been launched involving the army, police directorate, CRPF, NSG, and BSF in the entire area, starting from Sanyal to Dinga Amb and beyond.

To hunt down and kill the increasingly isolated terrorists, forces have deployed helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, bulletproof vehicles, and dog squads. In the area near the Hiranagar site, forces recovered four M-4 carbine magazines, two grenades, a bulletproof jacket, sleeping bags, and IED-making materials on Monday. With the cover of darkness, the terrorists managed to escape, prompting a much larger operation to ensure they don’t get away a second time. We have provided special light arrangements to prevent them from escaping in the dark.

Senior police officials are on the ground and are overseeing operations to eliminate the entire group of terrorists. Security forces are exerting maximum effort to complete this operation, thoroughly inspecting every alley.
