‘There’s Threat To Kill Me, Please Save Me’: Udaipur Victim Sought Security 2 Weeks Before Murder

Udaipur: Two weeks before his ghastly murder, Kanhaiya Lal had written to the local administration asking for security.

The tailor, who was attacked with knives and beheaded by two men in his shop, had stated in his letter that his neighbour Nazim and some other people were stalking him and had threatened to kill him, Timesnownews.com reported.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Hawa Singh Ghumaria informed that Kanhaiya was arrested after an FIR was registered against him on June 11 for sharing a controversial post on social media – backing now-suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

After Kanhaiya was granted bail, he told police that he was receiving threat calls.

The local SHO summoned him and some people from both communities to the police station and settled the matter.

Post Kanhaiya’s murder, ASI Bhanwar Lal has been suspended for negligence. The ASI did not pay heed to Kanhaiya’s concern about the threat calls he was receiving, the ADG said.

The ADG said that those who had come to mediate are also being interrogated.
