Mumbai: In a customer-centric initiative amid rising mobile theft concerns, Vodafone Idea (Vi) has rolled out three new prepaid data vouchers that bundle high-speed data with comprehensive handset insurance coverage of up to ₹25,000 against loss or theft.
The plans, priced at ₹61, ₹201, and ₹251, offer varying validity and protection periods. The ₹61 voucher provides 2GB of 4G data for 15 days, along with insurance valid for 30 days. The ₹201 and ₹251 options both deliver 10GB of data over 30 days but extend coverage to 180 days and a full year, respectively.
The insurance, partnered with ABHICL, compensates based on the handset’s current market value. To activate, users must register within 48 hours of receiving an SMS from the partner, ensuring the device is linked to the active Vi SIM. Claims are processed directly by ABHICL, with Vi offering support.
Key eligibility criteria include the handset being no older than three years from purchase and meeting the insurer’s conditions. An active base plan is mandatory for validity. In cases of ineligibility, a refund is assured.
This innovative offering provides a much-needed financial safeguard for subscribers, blending connectivity with security in an increasingly digital landscape.
