Doda: A fierce encounter is underway between security forces and militants in the Assar area of Doda district, Jammu region, where one terrorist has been killed so far. The ongoing operation is being conducted by a joint team comprising the Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The encounter began when security forces cordoned off the Shivgarh-Assar belt in search of foreign terrorists believed to be hiding in the area. Tragically, an Army Captain, identified as Captain Deepak Singh, was martyred during the operation. A civilian was also injured in the crossfire.
Security forces have recovered an M-4 rifle and three blood-stained bags from the militants. Two terrorists remain surrounded by the forces, and the operation continues.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anand Jain provided updates on the situation, confirming that the operation is ongoing and expressing the Army’s respect for Captain Deepak Singh’s ultimate sacrifice.
Officials stated that the confrontation began on Tuesday evening after security forces detected the presence of terrorists in the forested area near Patnitop in Udhampur district. The encounter started around 6:30 PM, and the search operation resumed early Wednesday morning.
By 7:30 AM on Wednesday, gunfire had resumed between the militants and the security forces, resulting in the death of one terrorist. The militants are suspected to be associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed group, a designated terrorist organization.
This encounter follows two others that took place on Sunday, during which security forces successfully neutralized multiple terrorists. Additionally, on June 26, three terrorists were killed in an encounter in Gandoh, Doda, further underscoring the ongoing security challenges in the region.
