Taj Mahal Gets Air Purifiers To Curb Pollution

With air pollution soaring to catastrophic levels in northern India, the Agra civic administration has installed two air purifiers at the world famous Taj Mahal.

The two purifiers were installed at the gates of the monument by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) along with Vodafone and Agra Nagar Nigam.

The two machines have the capacity to purify 15 lakh cubic metres of air in eight hours within a 300 metre radius.

At present, there is no continuous air monitoring station around Taj Mahal to calculate the effectiveness of the machines.

The air quality index (AQI) at Sanjay Palace in the city read 293, which is considered poor.
