New Delhi: Taiwanese drone giant DroneVision responded to the report, stressing that it had no commercial or military agreement with Pakistan. The statement was issued following media reports that “drone talks” were proceeding between a Karachi defence company and the firm, DroneVision, regarding drone purchase.

Reacting to reports, DroneVision said in an official statement, “We are not in direct contact with the Pakistani government, military or any related parties whatsoever, nor have we ever made any deals.” So far, we have not received any orders or proposals from Pakistan,” he added. The firm also stressed that all its overseas business was done with permission and in line with guidance from the Taiwanese government.

A Relief for India

DroneVision is one of the leading suppliers of defence drones and anti-UAV technology to India. The news of land deals with Pakistan is really a matter of concern where India’s security comes into the picture. But all such fears evaporated completely with DroneVision’s denial.

USMS & the Rumoured Conversation

Pakistan’s Universal Smart Military Systems (USMS), which has a close technical relationship with the Pakistan Air Force, also believes DroneVision’s Revolver 860 drone could be an ideal fit, according to reports. An advanced multi-rotor UAV, the Revolver 860 can carry up to eight mortar rounds for short-range strike missions.

The Ukrainian military operation against Russia and the latest inside mission on the Revolver 860 drone proved its vital role. Capable of carrying a payload for a decent length of operational flight time with pinpoint accuracy, the aircraft is ideally suited to modern warfare.

Pakistan’s Relationship with China and drone investment

Pakistan has invested billions into drone technology. Pakistan will spend between $200 and $500 million on drones – mostly from China and Turkey – between 2020 and 2025. Domestic drone manufacture is also being pursued, he said. Therefore, Pakistan considers cooperation with DroneVision of high strategic importance.

Despite the lack of formal diplomatic relations between India and Taiwan, they collaborate in various areas. The continuously evolving situation in Taiwan and developments in China directly impact India’s security in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea.

DroneVision has, of course, denied this, but this viewer maintains that this denial is also a sign of increasing confidence between India and Taiwan. The two countries have enhanced cooperation in technology, semiconductors and defense. DroneVision’s quote is a blatant and unmistakable message that in the age of China-Pakistan friendship, when Beijing is already at a point of no return with Taiwan, Pakistan’s stiff denial was expected.
