Samba: Security agencies have been put on high alert following the discovery of a suspicious pigeon in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district. The incident has caused a stir in the border region after a ring, a handwritten note in Urdu, and Pakistani currency were recovered from the bird.

The unusual discovery was made near the Kali Mata temple in the border village of Mawa in the Samba sector. According to initial reports, local residents spotted the pigeon, which was wearing a ring with a specific code number on its leg. Sensing something amiss, the alert villagers quickly captured the bird and informed the local authorities.

Upon conducting a preliminary search, police recovered the coded ring, the mysterious note, and the foreign currency attached to the pigeon. The local police immediately took custody of the bird and handed over the recovered items to intelligence agencies for a thorough forensic and linguistic examination.

Following the incident, security has been visibly tightened across the border areas, and a strict vigil is being maintained on all movements in the region.

Authorities are treating the matter with extreme seriousness due to the items attached to the bird. However, officials have stated that they are yet to ascertain where the pigeon flew from, the exact meaning of the coded ring, or the contents of the handwritten Urdu note. A detailed investigation is currently underway to uncover the potential purpose and origin of the bird.

This is not an isolated incident in the region. Over the past few weeks, there has been a continuous trend of suspicious items floating across the border from Pakistan, raising severe security concerns. Recently, an aeroplane-shaped balloon bearing the logo of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was recovered in the Pallanwala area of Khour in Jammu.

Security forces along the International Border remain highly vigilant, as such methods have historically been employed for cross-border espionage and passing coded messages to sleeper cells in the valley.
