Kolkata: The father of a young doctor, whose rape and murder at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has sparked nationwide outrage, has raised serious concerns regarding the location of the crime. In a significant claim, the bereaved father suggested that his daughter may have been killed elsewhere, with her body subsequently moved and left in the hospital’s seminar room.
The father expressed doubt about the official narrative, stating, “I suspect my daughter was murdered somewhere else and then the body was brought and dumped in the seminar room. Why else would the nearby doctor’s room be broken?” He further mentioned that on the night of the incident, at around 11:45 pm, his daughter was in the seminar hall, which raises additional questions about the sequence of events.
When asked about details emerging from the court proceedings, the father chose not to elaborate, saying, “Please do not ask questions related to that.” However, on the discovery of 150 ml of liquid in the victim’s body, as reported in court documents, he indicated that he was unaware of the specifics.
The High Court had earlier directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take charge of the probe. The CBI is now scrutinising the case closely, interrogating the main accused while gathering details about his movements on the night of the crime. According to sources, a team from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Delhi has also been dispatched to Kolkata. They plan to conduct a psychological evaluation of the accused to better understand his mindset and possible motivations.
The tragic incident has ignited widespread protests across the country, with doctors demanding improved security and justice for their colleague. A large number of medical professionals have been staging a sit-in outside RG Kar Hospital since the day after the crime. On Saturday, doctors across the nation took to the streets, suspending all non-emergency services as part of a mass demonstration.
The investigation remains ongoing as the CBI intensifies its efforts to uncover the truth behind this horrifying crime, while the victim’s family continues to seek justice amidst their grief.
