Patna: The Bombay High Court is set to hear the high-profile Sushant Singh Rajput death case on February 19, a hearing that could potentially increase troubles for Maharashtra politician Aditya Thackeray. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is expected to present all evidence in the case, which has been a subject of national intrigue and debate for nearly five years.
Sushant Singh Rajput, a rising Bollywood star, was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14, 2020. While the police initially ruled it a suicide, his father, Krishna Kumar Singh, vehemently contested this claim, alleging foul play and filing a case of murder. The case was later transferred to the CBI, which has been investigating the circumstances surrounding the actor’s death.
Sushant’s father expressed his hope for justice, stating, “I have faith in the CBI and the Bombay High Court. After five long years, I believe justice will be served.” With tears in his eyes, he added, “My son could never commit suicide. He was always a happy and positive person.”
Recalling the last time he saw his son, Krishna Kumar Singh said, “Sushant last visited Patna in 2019. The crowd was so overwhelming that we had to call the police. Today, the same house feels empty without him.”
Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely death at the age of 34 sent shockwaves across the country. The actor, who transitioned from television to Bollywood with remarkable success, was found hanging in his bedroom. While the police labelled it a suicide, his family and supporters raised suspicions of foul play, leading to a CBI probe.
The investigation brought several names under scrutiny, including Sushant’s former girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, and Aditya Thackeray, who was a minister in the Maharashtra government at the time. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in the Bombay High Court has further intensified the spotlight on Thackeray, with the upcoming hearing expected to delve deeper into the case.
