Puri: The Jagannath Temple Managing Committee in a meeting here on Friday decided to form a sub-committee for construction and renovation of the mutts in Puri.
This was announced by chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Krishan Kumar after the meeting, which was presided over by Gajapati Maharaja of Puri Dibyasingha Deb.
The decision to form the sub-committee was taken to spread the mutt culture across and outside Odisha, he said.
Kumar further said that the meeting also recommended the state government for approval of the five projects.
They are are conversion of Grand Road (Bada Danda) into a heritage corridor, development on the four sides of the Jagannath Temple in line with the Kalingan architecture, a recreation park inside Jagannath Ballav premises, development of Gundicha Temple and its periphery, and e-auction of temple land in accordance with a uniform policy.
“The meeting also decided to expedite construction of Adarsh Gurukulam (model school) for the children of the temple sevayats. For the construction of the model school, 12 acres of land has been identified on the outskirts of Puri,” he added.
Kumar also said that a decision to hold Rath Yatra in other parts of Odisha and outside as per the schedule followed in Puri was also taken in the meeting.
