New Delhi: The much-anticipated sequel Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, is proving to be a major box office hit, exceeding all expectations since its release on 15th August. The film, which opened strongly, is on track to become a blockbuster, with consistent earnings and overwhelming audience support. Despite stiff competition, Stree 2 managed to dominate from its very first day.
Released during the festive season, Stree 2 benefited from Rakshabandhan celebrations, as audiences flocked to cinemas for an entertaining experience. Although the film witnessed a slight dip in collections on Monday, it successfully passed the critical “Monday Test,” maintaining strong momentum.
After earning an impressive ₹51.8 crore on its opening day, boosted by ₹8.5 crore from previews, the film amassed a total of ₹60.1 crore on day one. Friday (16th August) saw the film earn ₹31.4 crore, while Saturday’s (17th August) collection surged to ₹43.85 crore. Sunday’s performance was exceptional, with Stree 2 raking in a record-breaking ₹55.9 crore, bringing the four-day total to over ₹200 crore.
On Monday, the film’s collection stood at ₹21.67 crore by the evening, bringing the cumulative earnings to ₹213.12 crore, according to reports from Sacnilk. As final figures are yet to be confirmed, the total is expected to rise even further.
With its combination of horror and humour, Stree 2 has captured the audience’s imagination once again, solidifying its place as one of 2023’s biggest successes. It remains to be seen just how much higher this box office juggernaut can go in the coming weeks.
