Stop Our Future From Getting Ruined: Hijab Activist-Student Appeals To Karnataka CM

Bengaluru: A Muslim student, who had moved the Karnataka High Court against the state government’s decision to bar religious clothes inside educational institutes, has urged chief minister Basavaraj Bommai to once again consider the “future” of Muslim students.

“2nd PU exams are going to start from 22nd of this month. Hon’ble CM @BSBommai you still have a chance to stop our future from getting ruined. You can make a decision to allow us to write exams wearing hijab. Please consider this. We are the future of this country,” Aliya Assadi, tweeted on Wednesday.

After the Karnataka HC upheld the government order, and Supreme Court refused an appeal against the verdict, several students skipped the exams.

The state education department said such candidates won’t be allowed a re-exam.

Now, it remains to be seen whether the CM pays heed to the student’s plea.
