Software Engineer Arrested For Rape Threat Against Kohli-Anushka’s Daughter

Hyderabad: A 23-year-old software engineer from Hyderabad has been arrested by Mumbai Police for a rape threat against Team India captain Virat Kohli’s nine-month-old daughter Vamika.

The online threat was posted on Twitter after Kohli had supported India teammate Mohammed Shami, who faced religion-based online abuse after India lost their opening T20 World Cup match against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Kohli had said that targeting someone based on his religion is pathetic. Thereafter, rape threats were issued to Virat and Anushka Sharma’s daughter from the Twitter account @Criccrazyygirl. The tweet was subsequently deleted.

Delhi Council for Women (DCW) took suo-moto cognizance of the incident, and asked Delhi Police to file an FIR.

Mumbai Police informed that the accused is a Hyderabad resident, who earlier worked for a food delivery app and is now employed in a software company.

India, who lost their first two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand, bowed out of the World Cup despite winning their next three games.
