New Delhi: Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi after his health deteriorated due to a high fever. Sources have revealed that Yechury was initially admitted to the emergency ward before being shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
While the hospital has not disclosed specific details about his condition, a source within the CPI(M) stated that Yechury is being treated for pneumonia. The source also mentioned that Yechury had previously visited AIIMS for a routine check-up but was kept under observation after he reported feeling unwell. His symptoms reportedly included fever and breathlessness, which prompted his admission due to pneumonia.
Currently, Yechury’s condition is said to be stable, and he is responding well to medical treatment. Party members and supporters are optimistic about his recovery and are closely monitoring updates on his health. “It is nothing serious; he has been admitted due to pneumonia,” the CPI(M) source reassured.
In a separate incident, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram was also admitted to AIIMS in Delhi on Monday night. He was taken to the new private ward, where he is being treated under Dr Anant Mohan, head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Disorders. Oram’s admission comes just days after the tragic death of his wife, Jhingia Oram, who succumbed to dengue while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The hospitalisation of these two political figures has drawn attention, with well-wishers and party members expressing their concerns and prayers for their swift recovery. Further updates on their health conditions are awaited as they continue receiving treatment at AIIMS.
