Mumbai: The Gujarat Titans crushed Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets, with Mohammad Siraj packing a career-best IPL 2025 haul of four for 17 in four overs. Siraj soldiered through a trip down memory lane when he was surprisingly left out of the squad for India’s Champions Trophy team before his mission on Friday against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Siraj, who was the man of the match, was candid at the post-match presentation about not being chosen for a big tournament like the Champions Trophy and how he was hungry to prove himself on Indian soil. It was painful to be left out of this team, but I picked myself up eventually, as I still have much to do, he confessed.
The hard work which Siraj put in to improve his attitude and fitness paid off as he proved to be effective in conjunction with Saini, with his family watching on their home ground, Hyderabad, where he grew up. However, as Hyderabadis, the win was extra special, even though those players weren’t playing for Sunrisers.
The bowler said he used his anger over not being chosen for the national side to fuel his performance in the IPL and this match. His performance there is a mark of personal achievement and how he is back at the top.
