Shramik Special Passenger On Way To Bihar Gives Birth In Jharsuguda PCR Van

Jharsuguda: After two babies were born in Sramika Special trains, a woman gave birth to a baby inside a police control room (PCR) van here on Sunday. This time also, the woman was travelling in a Sramik Special.

The incident took place when Payal Kumari and her husband Balkrishna Prasad of Krishnapur in Bihar were going from Secunderabad to Danapur in Bihar. While the train was approaching Jharsuguda, Payal developed labour pain.

On being informed by Railway authorities, IIC of Jharsuguda Town police station Sabitri Bal rushed to the railway station along with Tehsildar GB Mangaraj. As the train halted at Jharsuguda station at 2.20 pm, the IIC found the pregnant lady in extreme pain and decided to take her to hospital.

As no other vehicle was available, the police officer took Payal in PCR van. However, before they could reach the hospital, Payal delivered a baby girl inside the vehicle under the supervision of Bal.

Later, the mother and baby were admitted to Jharsuguda hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.
