Shatrughan Sinha Advocates For Nationwide Meat Ban And Supports UCC

New Delhi: TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha once again gained attention by expressing his strong views on both meat restrictions and the Uniform Civil Code. Sinha endorsed meat prohibition across India and showed his endorsement of the Uniform Civil Code on Tuesday when responding to a query.

The actor recognised that different regions of India create obstacles when enforcing a standard food ban. He wanted different political groups to create a nonpartisan solution to make the UCC work everywhere in India. He acknowledged the good results of establishing the UCC within Uttarakhand’s borders.

In his remarks about the beef ban, Mr Sinha asked why restrictions should apply to beef alone. Every part of India should completely prohibit meat consumption. Though rules prevent beef sales in some parts of India, this product remains accessible through open markets in other regions. According to him, people from the Northeast can enjoy beef freely, yet North Indian citizens must obey this restriction.

According to Sinha, the rules that apply in North India have no authority in the Northeastern states. He mentioned that the UCC features multiple operational problems and specific weak points that require restructuring. He started an inter-party meeting process because he wanted members to create UCC rules without political influence.

Under the leadership of the BJP in Gujarat, the state administration has established a team under retired Justice Ranjana Desai to examine the demand for the Uniform Civil Code and create a draft bill. Justice Desai will head the five-member committee and needs to complete its review in 45 days before Chief Minister Patel decides on UCC enforcement.

A senior official announced that committee members must interview religious leaders, including Muslim representatives, before creating the report. The Chief Minister stated clearly that evaluating the value of the UCC must come first while a Supreme Court Justice pensioner writes its bill text. In addition to the retired judges, the committee comprises retired IAS officer C.L. Meena, advocate R.C. Kodaker, former Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Vice Chancellor Dakshesh Thakar, and social advocate Geeta Shroff.
