Mumbai: Bollywood’s veteran actress and Saif Ali Khan’s mother Sharmila Tagore needs no introduction. The versatile actress, who charmed her fans with her acting prowess is making a comeback to films.
Tagore will be seen in ‘Gulmohar’, a family drama, that revolves around the multi-generation Batra family who are all set to move out of their 34-year-old family home.
The film has an envious cast too with Tollywood’s ace actress Simran, who ruled the Telugu film industry till a few years ago, playing a prominent role opposite Manoj Bajpayee and Amol Palekar. Actors Suraj Sharma and Simran Rishi Bagga also play pivotal roles.
The moving out of their 34-year-old family home triggers a re-discovery of the bonds that have held them together as a family, while grappling with personal secrets and insecurities.
“After a considerable gap, I am very happy to be in the familiar and well-loved ambience of a film set. I agreed almost immediately to be a part of Team Gulmohar – after the moving narration of this heartwarming and beautifully written story/script. It is a very layered and absorbing family drama. And I am sure many will enjoy watching it together with their loved ones in the comfort of their home,” Tagore told Agencies.
Directed by Rahul Chittella and produced by Fox Star Studios, Chalkboard Entertainment and Autonomous Works’ Gulmohar is set for August release.
Tagore was last seen in the 2010 romantic-comedy ‘Break Ke Baad’.
