Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor is happily married to Mira Rajput, and he often praises her in his interviews. The actor started dating Kareena Kapoor before they broke up in a much-publicised relationship. After this, Shahid was linked to several actresses but never confirmed any such rumours. Shahid opened up about getting his heart broken while recently conversing with Raj Shamani.
You know, he said, sometimes, you love someone so much that when they reject you, you chase them to the point where you lose your dignity. You lose your self-respect, not knowing when, and you realise later when you think, ‘What was I doing? You shape who you want to be; after all, if those experiences have not helped you become better, then you have wasted them,’ Shahid elaborates on the lessons. His heartbreaks also told him what he likes in a partner.
“Falling in love is one thing, but you need to know whether the person brings out the best or the worst in you because at the end of the day you have to live with yourself,” he said. Shahid continued: ‘Love should not come from neediness—being needy for comfort or validation from another person is selfish.
We can want to be loved and cared for, but are you one to give one in a relationship? Shahid met Mira Rajput through family friends and married in 2015 in an arranged marriage setup. He says their association blossomed at first sight, but Mira took some six months to give in to the marriage.
Even with their 13-year age gap, they built a great life together. Their first kid, Misha, was born in 2016, while their son Zain followed in 2018.
On the work front, Shahid Kapoor plays a police officer in his next, ‘Deva,’ alongside Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, Pravessh Rana, and Kubbra Sait. ‘Deva’ is touted to be an action entertainer helmed by Rosshan Andrrews, with Siddharth Roy Kapur and Umesh KR Bansal producing the film, which will be released on January 31, 2025.
