Understanding Grey Divorce
The grey divorce trend has been increasing in Indian society in past years. In simple terms, if a couple chooses to separate in their 40s, 50s, or older, it is referred to as a grey divorce. This mostly applies to couples married for 15-20 years or longer who decide to split in the latter part of their life together, also referred to as silver splitters or diamond divorce. Sehwag is now 46, while Aarti is 43.
In this day and age, both husband and wife work. In a grey divorce, property division, alimony, and retirement benefits are important aspects that the court will consider as well. They also consider the length of the marriage, the ages of both spouses, and their health.
Malaika Arora’s Connection

Malaika and Arbaaz divorced in 2016. Other grey divorces worth mentioning are filmmaker Prakash Jha and actress Deepti Naval.
A Long-Standing Relationship
Virender Sehwag and Aarti Ahlawat are childhood friends. When Aarti was five and Sehwag was seven, the two met because Aarti’s aunt married one of Sehwag’s cousins. Less than two years later, he wanted to marry Aarti, but their families did not favour it due to the close nature of their families, as both were the grandchildren of erstwhile leaders. Nevertheless, Sehwag married Aarti in 2004, and they had two sons, Aryavir and Vedant.
