New Delhi: Raj Kundra, businessman and husband of actor Shilpa Shetty, has been granted four weeks’ protection from arrest in connection with a pornography case.
He allegedly owns a mobile application that streams and distributes sexually-explicit content.
A bench headed by Justice Vineet Saran granted the anticipatory bail to Kundra. The court also issued a notice to the Maharashtra government and Mumbai Crime Branch, the HT reported.
Kundra had contended that the videos did not show any physical or sexual activity and he also denied his involvement in making or broadcasting the videos.
Notably, his plea for pre-arrest protection was dismissed by the Bombay high court on November 25.
Kundra was arrested in July and charged under sections 292 and 293 (sale of obscene material) of the Indian Penal Code, sections 66E, 67, 67A (transmission of sexually explicit material) under the Information Technology Act and provisions of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
He and his Information Technology (IT) head Ryan Thorpe were granted bail on a surety of Rs 50,000 in September.
