Sanjeev Arora’s Jalandhar House Raided By ED, Investigations Continue

Jalandhar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid on the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora on Monday. Arora is accused of fraudulently transferring land in the name of his company. The ED teams carried out raids at several locations associated with Arora, including his residence in Jalandhar. The raids are part of a larger investigation targeting alleged financial irregularities.

Sanjeev Arora took to social media platform X to express his surprise regarding the raid. “I am a law-abiding citizen. What is the reason for the search? I am not aware of this, but I will fully cooperate with the agencies and answer all their queries,” he wrote, signalling his willingness to assist in the investigation.

According to ED sources, the raids spanned 17 locations, including in Delhi. The ED is also investigating Hemant Sund, a business associate of Arora and a significant player in the real estate industry. Raids were also conducted at the premises of Chand Shekhar Agarwal, who was previously linked to the Mahadev app case, and at Royal Industries and Ritesh Property— the latter being owned by Sanjeev Arora.

Political Response and Background

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia criticised the raids, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of political vendetta. He expressed his displeasure on X, defending Arora amidst the investigation.

Sanjeev Arora, who has only recently ventured into politics, was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab on 10 April 2022. His election saw no opposition from rival candidates, marking his smooth entry into national politics. Before his political career, Arora was known for his deep involvement in social work and charitable activities. In memory of his parents, who passed away due to cancer, he founded the Krishna Pran Breast Cancer Charitable Trust, which has provided free treatment to 160 cancer patients over the past 15 years.

Arora is also linked to various social and cultural organisations. He is on the governing board of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital and is a member of the Apex Council of the Punjab Cricket Association. Additionally, he is associated with the Ved Mandir Trust, Daresi, and has served as the secretary of Sutlej Club for two terms.

The ED’s investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited as the agency continues its probe into the alleged financial misconduct.
