Sachin Tendulkar Flags Viral Deepfake Video Of His Endorsing Mobile App; Check Here

Mumbai: After Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, and Priyanka Chopra, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has become the latest celebrity ensnared by deepfake videos.

On Monday, the ‘master blaster’ took to X (formerly Twitter) to flag a fake video, in which he is seen endorsing the gaming app “Skyward Aviator Quest” and to address the disturbing misuse of technology while urging vigilance and swift action against the spread of misinformation.

He tagged Ministry of Electronics & IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar — the Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Electronics & Technology, and Maharashtra Cyber in the post.

Deepfake artificial intelligence (AI) is used for creating convincing deceptive image, audio and video footage. In this deepfake video, Sachin can be heard saying, “My daughter these days is playing this game about which everyone is talking about- Skyward Aviator Quest. By playing Skyward Aviator Quest she is earning Rs 1,80,000 everyday. It is surprising that one can earn good money so easily these days. And the best part is that this app is absolutely free. Any iPhone user can download this app.”

Maharashtra Cyber Cell has taken cognizance of Tendulkar’s complaint and are looking into the matter, sourced told CNBCTV-18.com.

Last month, veteran industrialist and former Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata had called out a post from a user by the name of Sona Agrawal that used a fake interview of him in a video recommending investments.
