Lucknow: A “Shakha Toli Sammelan” program was organised by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at Smriti Upvan on Sunday (April 16) in Lucknow. RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale was the chief guest at the event. Addressing the gathering, Hosabale said the RSS volunteers work towards the ‘ultimate glory of India. This glory can only be realised through ‘daily practice in the shakhas’ (RSS branch). He said that for 100 years the RSS has been influencing Hindu society, bringing them together and helping with nation-building.

In the context of the meeting, which he said was normally held by RSS to maintain a certain quality among its workers, Hosabale said, “Each organisation has its own set of rules which decide the conduct of its workers.” He also pointed out that these programmes make sure about the internal commitment and quality of the voluntary, which was earned through rigorous training at the local shakhas.

As he continued, “We RSS volunteers are working to take our nation to the highest peak of prosperity. We owe this to the fact that we were fortunate to be born in India, a place that even the gods desire to inhabit. We have to fulfill our responsibilities towards society and the country.”

Hosabale acknowledged the contributions of scholars, scientists, and social workers who have shaped India’s current state. He stressed that everyone must contribute to propel the country forward. The outstanding men and women who laid down their lives protecting Indian culture and dharma need to be appreciated, and every citizen is indebted to such heroes, he said.

HIGHLIGHT Shosabale also said that RSS workers dream of dedicating something to the nation that provides everything. Many people have served the society before but the role of RSS lies in bringing together people from all sections of society towards a singular ideology for the nation’s progress, he said.

He also described the Kumbh as an indispensable part of India’s spiritual and cultural identity, representing “the spirit of Indian culture and Hinduism itself.” Despite several attempts, Hindu society still needs to be stirred up from time to time, and that is the work that the RSS has dutifully performed, he said.

Stressing the use of every RSS worker for social transformation ahead, Hosabale said, “Next year, we will ensure that every RSS worker is involved in social transformation.” He said that extensive preparation is needed to ensure that the core objectives of the RSS reach all the Shakhs and groups in the country.

Speaking on the issue of Hindu Rashtra, Hosabale said that the RSS has not worked towards making India a Hindu nation but tried to create service-oriented, united and powerful Hindus. He further said that the RSS has been focusing on turning caste-based Hindus into national Hindus who think, act, and behave like true Hindus.

RSS leaders, including regional and departmental heads, also attended the event.
