New Delhi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has called for a population control policy in light of changing demographics, a demand highlighted in its mouthpiece, Organiser Magazine. Union Minister and veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Giriraj Singh has echoed this sentiment, advocating for a stringent policy akin to China’s One Child Policy.
Giriraj Singh stated that without China’s One Child Policy, the country’s population would have become uncontrollable. He suggested that India needs a similar law, applicable uniformly to all religious communities—Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians. He further proposed that those who disregard the law should be stripped of their voting rights and denied benefits from government schemes.
The recent article in Organiser Magazine argued for a national population control policy, citing demographic changes due to an increase in the Muslim population in certain areas. The article expressed concerns over regional imbalances, noting that while the national population remains stable, disparities exist across different regions and religious groups. It highlighted significant growth in the Muslim population in some border districts and pointed to unnatural population growth in states like West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, and Uttarakhand, attributing these changes to illegal displacement.
The article emphasised the importance of numbers in democratic representation and the need to monitor demographic trends closely. It underscored the necessity of a population control policy to address regional imbalances and ensure balanced demographic representation across the country.
