Sydney: Former Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma made a resounding statement with a match-winning century in Sydney, silencing doubters and reaffirming his prowess in international cricket.

After a seven-and-a-half-month hiatus, Rohit’s unbeaten 121 in the final ODI against Australia not only secured a nine-wicket victory but also earned him the series’ top run-scorer title with 202 runs.

In an exclusive BCCI interview, Rohit opened up about his break, describing it as a rare opportunity to prepare on his terms. “I never got 4–5 months to get ready myself. I wanted to use this time wisely, and it helped me understand what lies ahead in my career,” he said. The 38-year-old credited his meticulous preparation and past experiences in Australia for his stellar performance.

Partnering with Virat Kohli for a 168-run stand, Rohit drove home the importance of their first century partnership in over five years. “With Gill out early and Shreyas injured, we had to step up. Understanding each other’s game made it easier,” he added.

Reflecting on life beyond cricket, Rohit remarked, “There’s so much more to do in life besides your profession. Giving myself time was crucial.”

His return has sparked excitement among fans, proving that the hitman’ still has plenty to offer.

As India gears up for future challenges, Rohit’s Sydney masterclass serves as a reminder of his enduring class and determination.
