Patna: In her first public reaction after the Mahagathbandhan’s crushing defeat in the Bihar Assembly polls, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s eldest daughter and RJD candidate Rohini Acharya broke her silence on Friday, launching a blistering attack on the “betrayal” by former ally Sanjay Yadav while expressing unflinching faith in brother Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership.

Speaking to reporters outside 10 Circular Road, Rohini, who contested from Sarairanjan, accused Mukesh Sahani’s VIP and Sanjay Yadav’s Samajwadi Party of sabotaging the alliance. “Sanjay Yadav contested 11 seats and cut over 1.5 lakh votes that belonged to Tejashwi. This was no accident; it was deliberate sabotage,” she alleged, claiming Yadav’s rebellion handed crucial seats to the NDA on a platter.

The firebrand doctor-turned-politician, known for her outspoken social media posts, however, refused to blame the electorate. “The people of Bihar still love Tejashwi. They were misled by money, muscle, and machinery. But this loss is temporary. My brother will rise stronger,” she asserted, adding that the RJD’s vote share remained robust despite the seat collapse.

Rohini also took a veiled dig at turncoats within the Opposition, saying, “Some leaders sold their souls for personal gain.” Sources say the Yadav family is particularly stung by Sanjay Yadav’s last-minute revolt after seat-sharing talks collapsed.

As the RJD regroups for the tough road ahead, Rohini’s fierce defence signals that the Lalu legacy is far from fading, with the next generation ready to fight another day.
