Real Estate Boom In Ayodhya: Circle Rates To Rise By Up To 200 Percent

Lucknow: Ayodhya is preparing for a significant increase in its land circle rates, with rates expected to rise by 50 to 200 percent. The people of Ayodhya have long been demanding an increase in the circle rate to receive fair compensation for their land, especially after the construction of the Ram temple and related infrastructure projects. The last increase in the circle rate was in 2017.

The demand for fair compensation had also emerged as a key issue following the BJP’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections, where dissatisfaction over low compensation was cited as one reason for the party’s setback. The new proposal to increase the circle rates has been prepared, and objections to the proposed rates have been invited until 4 September. Ayodhya Divisional Commissioner Gaurav Dayal mentioned that two meetings have already taken place regarding the rate hike, and a final decision will be made after considering all objections.

The decision to raise circle rates comes amid soaring property prices in Ayodhya, which has become a prime real estate location since the foundation stone of the Ram temple was laid. The land market in Ayodhya has been booming, with prices expected to double in the near future. Several prominent figures, including Baba Ramdev, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, political leaders, bureaucrats, and businesspeople, have purchased land in the area. These lands, once designated as buffer zones, were later denotified with the governor’s approval.

The government has acquired hundreds of acres of land in Ayodhya for various developmental projects, including the construction of an airport, bus stand, and roads. However, many residents feel aggrieved by what they see as inadequate compensation, given that the circle rate does not reflect the soaring market value of the land.

Adding to Ayodhya’s significance, the new idol of Ramlala was consecrated in the grand Ram temple on 22 January this year, an event attended by people from across the country, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bollywood celebrities, prominent industrialists, and other notable figures. The consecration ceremony was marked by grand celebrations, highlighting Ayodhya’s growing prominence.

With the upcoming revision of circle rates, the real estate market in Ayodhya is expected to witness further dynamism, reflecting the city’s rising importance and its rapidly evolving landscape.
