Ratan Tata Biopic In The Works; National Award-Winning Filmmaker May Helm Project

New Delhi: A biopic on Ratan Tata is in the works.

The story of the 84-year-old industrialist’s life is likely to be helmed by National Award-winning director Sudha Kongara.

Research on Tata’s biopic is underway, and work on the film may start in the second half of 2023.

Multiple facets of the former Tata Sons chairman’s life will be brought to life on the big screen, including several aspects that are not available in public domain.

Abhishek Bachchan and Suriya may be roped in for the biopic, according to Chennai Times.

“His life is an inspiration for every Indian around the world. The script work is also in the works and the makers are planning to start the principal photography in the last quarter of next year,” Indulge Express quoted a source close to the project as saying.

Tata was Chairman of Tata Sons — the holding company of Tata Group — from 1991 till his retirement in December 2012. During his tenure, Tata Group’s revenues grew manifold, up to over $100 billion in 2011-12.

The eminent industrialist and Emeritus Chairman of Tata Sons was conferred the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award, in 2008. He also received honorary doctorates from several universities in India and overseas.

He was recently awarded ‘Sewa Ratna’ by RSS-affiliated Sewa Bharti for his contribution to philanthropy.
