Jaipur: The timing of the swearing-in ceremony of Rajasthan’s Chief Minister-designate, Bhajan Lal Sharma, has been changed. According to a directive from the Deputy Secretary to the Rajasthan government, the ceremony will now take place at Ram Niwas Bagh in Jaipur at 12:05 PM on December 15.
The oath-taking ceremony will also include Deputy Chief Ministers-designate Diya Kumari and Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa. December 15 holds special significance as it marks the birthday of Bhajan Lal Sharma, contributing to the choice of the date for the swearing-in ceremony.
Sharma, a first-time MLA from Sanganer in Jaipur, secured the BJP ticket in the 2023 assembly elections, replacing sitting MLA Ashok Lohati. He emerged victorious by defeating Congress candidate Pushpendra Bhardwaj by a margin of 48,081 votes.
Despite facing accusations of being an outsider during the campaign, Sharma garnered a substantial victory. He is known for his close ties to the Sangh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union ministers will be present at the grand ceremony. It follows the recent swearing-in ceremonies of the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh held on Wednesday. Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Ministers, Mohan Yadav and Vishnu Deo Sai, respectively, also took the oath of office.
Prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP president J. P. Nadda, were present at the meetings. Their presence underscores the significance of these ceremonies, as the BJP recently secured victories in the assembly elections of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
