Jaipur: Rajasthan BJP president Madan Rathod is in the news due to his controversial statements against a woman party leader. The comment has ignited a political storm, with BJP leader Suman Sharan referring to it as ‘export quality’. Rathod later commented on the BJP’s export quality’ leader, ranting about the Rajasthan cricketer’s merit. The Congress party has condemned Rathod’s statement, and they have alleged that the BJP is insulting women and he should apologise. His comments were made in a video that has since gone viral on social media, driving even more controversy.
We will also campaign in Bihar,’ Rathod said while addressing an event of Bihar Diwas in Jaipur. Right before us is ‘Export quality’ (BJP leader Suman Sharma). I will send her there. We will ensure everyone’s involvement. We will diligently strive to transform Bihar into a developed state by making significant progress in this area.
Opposition leader Tikkaram Julie said that Rathod insulted a woman leader. He wrote that the comment was “shameful” and blatantly reflective of the attitude of BJP leadership towards women. He then asked Rathod to apologise for his statements.
After facing backlash over his statement, Rathod defended himself and said he was trying to appreciate Sharma’s skills. He stated, “If someone is capable, send him to other places that require his talents.” I have said that our daughter of Bihar has arrived in Rajasthan, and since she is competent, she can go back to work for the party. Why is this problematic? And by export, I meant good quality, like a good sister, a good daughter, and a good woman. Let there be no misunderstanding of the previous statement. The Congress, too, has no genuine issues to address. Suman Sharma is the daughter of Bihar, daughter-in-law of Jaipur, and sister to me. She is a capable leader.”
The controversy has surfaced as political parties are still in preparations for the Bihar Assembly elections that are likely to be held later this year in September or October. The BJP, too, like any party, also hatches its plan, which has, it will be seen, its rotators in terms of well-known leaders from different states who connect with voters in Bihar.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has said that the Bihar election will be contested under the leadership of the BJP leader and Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary. However, there has been no affirmation from the BJP leadership on who will be the chief minister’s face in future elections.
