New Delhi: The Indian Railways has taken many steps in an attempt to improve passenger convenience and control crowd at train stations. Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister of rail, said that the limited number of tickets provided will help to control traffic, so guaranteeing better travel conditions and raising the possibility of confirmed ticket acquisition.
There have lately been cases where station crowding has had disastrous results. The Railways are working on plans to control passenger count in order to solve this. Apart from easing traffic, this project seeks to increase ticket availability.
The Railways have also reached notable marks in reaching self-sufficiency. The Railways have fared significantly better over time since the COVID-19 epidemic, meeting their costs from their own earnings. The Minister underlined that in recent years the revenue of the Railways has increased significantly.
Regarding infrastructure development, the Railways have rebuilt 50,000 kilometres of already-existing lines and erected 34,000 kilometres of new ones. They also have built 12,000 flyovers and underpasses. Moreover helping to develop the railway system is the yearly manufacturing of 1,400 locomotives. India runs today more than 13,000 passenger trains overall—4,111 mail and express trains, 3,313 passenger trains, and 5,774 suburban trains.
