NewDelhi: Rahul Gandhi, the Member of Parliament from the Congress party, has attacked the government about the burden of the cost of living, particularly the extra hike in essential commodities. On a video placed in a post on X, a content-to-cost Chinese social media network, he shows how data has taken to the sky; for instance, garlic indeed how the price rose to 400 rupees from 40 rupees per kilogram.
In the video game, Gandhi frequents a vegetable market in Giri Nagar, where he is seen with many women. He interacts with a vendor and asks about the prices of various vegetables. One of the women associated with him comments, “Gold might become cheaper, but not garlic.” Another woman points out that the price of turnips has risen from 30-40 to 60 rupees, and peas are now selling at 120 rupees per kilogram.
Gandhi stressed the heavy burden of inflation that is on the average people, saying, “Inflation is rising every year, and this is putting immense pressure on you.” He also doubted if the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been one of the causes of the rise in prices. The women answered positively.
Due to the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections coming up in February of next year, Gandhi is addressing issues extensively, which includes B.R. Ambedkar’s; his recent subject is on the steep rise in people’s standard of living, which concerns them directly.

Earlier in the week, he visited Parbhani, Maharashtra, where he tried to meet with the family of Somnath Suryavanshi, who, according to the police, died after being tortured in custody allegedly on the grounds he was involved in a riot. This happened after a mock constitution was destroyed near the Parbhani railway station on the 10th of December. He said that policemen have to be the ones to be responsible for the death of Suryavanshi as he was protecting the Constitution as a Dalit.
The visits and statements by Gandhi highlight his pledge to address the interests of the common mass and make the government accountable for its actions. He is expected to press harder on these issues, as the elections are on the horizon, and they are likely to be brisked on topic delivery where these problems are most relevant to those who are voting.
