Rahul Gandhi Never Insulted India, Declares Congress Amid BJP Outrage

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has strongly defended Rahul Gandhi, stating that the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha has never insulted India and will never do so. Kharge’s remarks came in response to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) fresh attack on Rahul Gandhi following his recent comments in the United States.

Speaking on Monday, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia criticised Rahul Gandhi, labelling him a “black spot on Indian democracy” and accusing him of attempting to undermine the country’s democratic fabric through his statements abroad. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also condemned Gandhi’s remarks, calling them an “anti-national act” that tarnishes India’s image on the global stage.

Kharge, responding to these allegations, emphasised, “Rahul Gandhi has never insulted India and will never do so. This is our promise.” He further argued that the BJP is constantly on the lookout for reasons to stir controversy. Kharge made these comments on the sidelines of a book release event in New Delhi.

During an interaction with the Indian-American community in Dallas, Texas, Rahul Gandhi spoke about the current political climate in India, asserting that “love, respect, and humility” were missing in Indian politics. He also critiqued the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), stating that while the RSS perceives India as an idea, he and his party believe India to be “a country defined by a diversity of ideas.”

While speaking with students at the University of Texas in Dallas, Gandhi highlighted the challenges of unemployment faced by India, the United States, and other Western countries. He contrasted this with China’s dominance in global production and called for a renewed focus on manufacturing in India.
