Rahul Gandhi Faces Criticism from Haryana BJP Leader During Visit

Chandigarh: Former Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij has sharply criticised Congress MP Rahul Gandhi during his recent visit to the state, welcoming him with a pointed challenge. Vij stated, “Rahul is welcome. They are good for us. Wherever they go, the Bharatiya Janata Party government is formed.” However, he insisted that Gandhi should first clarify his controversial remarks regarding the abolition of reservations while abroad, asserting, “Every child of the country wants to teach them a lesson. We will never allow reservations to end.”

Vij accused the Congress party of consistently deceiving the public, describing it as a “factory of lies.” He emphasised that in Ambala Cantt, Congress has failed to initiate any meaningful development. He further stated, “If anyone has ever threatened the Constitution and the country, it has come from the Gandhi royal family,” referencing historical events such as the Emergency imposed by Rahul Gandhi’s grandmother, which he claimed stripped people of their fundamental rights.

The former Home Minister defended the BJP’s record, stating that the party has never removed an elected government through unconstitutional means, unlike Congress, which he alleged has historically done so. “Now these people are explaining the meaning of democracy and the Constitution. They have trampled the Constitution time and again,” he remarked.

Vij also expressed discontent over the treatment of Congress leader Kumari Selja, stating that the derogatory remarks made about her are now a societal issue in Haryana, reflecting broader discontent regarding the respect afforded to women in the Congress party. He pointed out that there is significant resentment in the state towards Congress.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally in Karnal’s Assandh, delivering a staunch critique of the BJP government. He claimed that the BJP has devastated Haryana, leading to rising unemployment and inflation. Gandhi recounted interactions with youth who expressed feeling abandoned by the state, stating, “If a youth is poor, he cannot take a loan from the bank nor can he start a business. This government has closed every door for the youth of the state.”

As the political climate heats up in Haryana, both leaders are vying for the support of the electorate, each presenting their vision for the future of the state amidst growing tensions.
