West Champaran: In a fiery address during the Bihar Assembly election campaign, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to establish an “Apmaan Mantralaya” (Ministry of Insults) for his frequent claims of being insulted by opponents.
Speaking at a rally in Chanpatia, she accused Modi of prioritising trivial issues, like the size of opposition leaders’ photos on posters, over more pressing concerns, such as corruption, unemployment, and education in Bihar. “Modi is more worried about Rahul Gandhi’s or Tejashwi Yadav’s pictures than the state’s real problems,” she remarked, highlighting the NDA’s alleged neglect of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Defending her brother, Rahul Gandhi, against accusations of insulting the armed forces, Priyanka asserted, “My brother never disrespected the Army. He fearlessly speaks the truth and stands for the nation.” She raised concerns about electoral integrity, warning that the NDA’s alleged “vote theft” tactics, as seen in other states, threaten democracy. “If governments are formed by manipulating voter lists, where is democracy?” she asked, emphasising Rahul’s commitment to exposing such irregularities.
Priyanka’s remarks come amid intense campaigning for Bihar’s 243-seat Assembly elections, with voting scheduled for November 6 and 11 and results due on November 14. The contest pits the NDA, led by BJP and JD(U), against the Mahagathbandhan, comprising RJD and Congress. As both sides vie for supremacy, Priyanka’s critique underscores the opposition’s charge that Modi’s policies favour industrialists like Ambani and Adani while neglecting Bihar’s youth and education systems.
