Patna: In a bold swipe at Bihar’s entrenched economic woes, Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has thrown his weight behind a European-style capitalism, slamming socialism as little more than “distributing poverty”.

Kishor, eyeing a seismic shift in the state’s assembly polls, envisions a future where capital flows not to a handful of tycoons but into the palms of everyday folks, sparking a consumption boom.

In a riveting interview amid the high-stakes Bihar elections, Kishor, a political strategist by profession who has rebranded himself as a people’s crusader, declared, “I’m a capitalist at heart, and I welcome capital with open arms. Our core belief? Wealth shouldn’t be the monopoly of a few industrialists — it must empower the masses, fuelling consumption and growth.”

Rejecting the American model’s cutthroat concentration of power, he championed Europe’s equitable approach, where resources and riches are spread wider, ensuring broader public stakes. “We won’t lean on a few families for funds,” he asserted. “Instead, let’s disperse capital to build a resilient economy.”

Kishor’s tirade against socialism couldn’t be sharper: “I refuse to dole out poverty in the name of society. I want to witness wealth creation, not mere redistribution.”

This statement comes as Jan Suraaj’s campaign lasers in on migration and jobs, positioning the party as a fresh alternative to Bihar’s creaky political machinery.

With record voter turnout hinting at brewing change, Kishor’s vision could upend the status quo — or ignite fierce debate on the hustings.

As polls rage on, one question looms: will Bihar embrace this capitalist reinvention or cling to familiar socialist crutches?
