NewDelhi: Starting on November 21st in 2024 onwards until notice, due to the escalating pollution levels and the implementation of GRAP 4 (Graded Response Action Plan) half of the government employees based in Delhi will be working remotely from their homes as per the ruling, by the Delhi administration. This new measure will impact all office staff members while essential services rendered by the Delhi government and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will be exempted from this arrangement to ensure operations can run at a reduced capacity of 50%.
140 thousand people work in 80 departments and different agencies within the Delhi government and the MCD included in it well as stated by Environment Minister Gopal Rai via social media that the goal of this project is to decrease health hazards, for workers and address air quality concerns given the worrisome pollution levels, in Delhi.
Gopal Rai has recommended that private businesses and industries should also take steps to those of the government to tackle the citys air pollution problem.He proposed that private enterprises should think about changing their work hours to start between 1030 and 1100 AM to ease traffic congestion during periods.This adjustment could help reduce vehicle emissions.
The government has also recommended corporations to set up bus transportation for their staff to help decrease the volume of cars, in traffic lanes.Rai stressed that the actions to lower pollution levels are continuous and the choice to enforce a telecommuting policy is a component of these efforts.
Delhi has been facing air pollution issues lately as reflected in the Air Quality Index (AQ I0 of 426 on Wednesday). Moreover the city experienced its night this season which has added to its woes.
